NEAH BAY — The Makah Senior Citizens Program has received $26,000 from the Muckleshoot tribe to purchase a new 15-passenger van to provide transportation for tribal elders.
“This van enables us to continue providing quality, safe and reliable services to tribal elders,” said Maureen Sones, Makah Senior Citizens Program coordinator.
Sones said the tribe will continue to use an older, 12-passenger van, and the new and larger van allows more tribal elders to travel and receive services.
The Muckleshoot tribe, which operates the Muckleshoot Casino, one of the largest Native American casinos in the Northwest, donated the funds last month.
The red Chevrolet van was delivered to Sones on March 6.
