Republican Pat Rodgers continued to maintain a 15 percent lead after ballot counting Friday, making him the winner over Democratic opponent Mark Rose for county commissioner.
Rodgers has 6,073 votes, or percent, compared with Rose’s 4,509 votes, or 43 percent.
Relatively few ballots remain to be counted before election results are certified next week.
Additional absentee ballots could be counted Wednesday, the County Auditor’s Office said.
Rodgers’ election makes Jefferson County’s Board of Commissioners entirely Republican.
Rodgers will be sworn into office Nov. 21, joining fellow GOP Commissioners Glen Huntingford and Dan Titterness.
As of Friday, 11,127 ballots have been counted, representing nearly 58 percent of the county’s 19,268 registered voters, the auditor’s office said.
Election certification will take place Nov. 19.
