PORT TOWNSEND — The State Patrol was investigating Tuesday night what caused a Ford sedan carrying two Port Townsend residents to veer off state Highway 20 about 9 miles south of Port Townsend that afternoon.
Neither Leslie J. Cole, 71, nor Calvin P. Cole, 78, his passenger, were injured when their red 2007 Ford 500 sedan heading east on Highway 20 drifted to the right near Fairmont Hill Road and left the road at about 4:53 p.m., the State Patrol said, adding that both were wearing seat belts.
The Ford’s passenger-side wheels left the pavement, and the car continued into a roadside ditch, the State Patrol said.
The Ford was towed from the scene.
Highway 20 was partially blocked for about one hour and 10 minutes.
