BLYN — A new Clallam County Sheriff’s Department patrol car caught fire while the deputy was investigating a report on Jimmycomelately Road this week.
The car is one of seven 2008 Ford Crown Victorias that the department acquired in May.
It had about 3,000 miles on it when the engine burst into flames at about 10:42 a.m. Wednesday, said Undersheriff Ron Peregrin on Thursday.
Deputy Mark Millet tried to put out the fire himself with a fire extinguisher, Peregrin said.
But he had to ask for assistance from a Fire District No. 3 crew.
“He was hopping around pretty good to put out the fire,” Peregrin said.
