New fare structure adopted by Jefferson Transit

PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson Transit Authority board has approved a new fare structure that will eliminate zone charges and transfers.

The new system is based on a day-pass concept.

Full-fare adult passengers will pay $1.25 upon boarding their first bus and will receive a day pass good for unlimited rides for the remainder of the day.

Reduced-fare passengers (seniors, disabled and youth) will pay 75 cents and receive a reduced-fare day pass. Monthly passes will be available for $24, full fare, and $12, reduced fare.

Three month passes for college students will be available for $40.

Dial-A-Ride passengers will pay $1 per trip; however, anyone who is approved to use the Dial-A-Ride system can ride the fixed route system for free by showing the driver his or her Americans with Disabilities Act identification card.

Children 6 and younger still ride free when accompanied by an adult.
