SEQUIM — Vince Riccobene, who is currently the Sequim School District’s executive director of teaching and learning, has been named the new principal of Sequim Middle School, effective in July.
Tom Anderson, former superintendent of the Crescent School District, has served as interim principal for the 2013-14 school year.
Brian Jones, who had served as principal for eight years, retired in July 2013.
Riccobene was chosen from 13 who applied to a hiring committee consisting of five teachers, two classified employees, two parents and three ad-ministrators that was formed in February, the district said.
Interviews with five finalists were conducted March 13.
Announced earlier this week
Superintendent Kelly Shea announced Riccobene’s hiring Tuesday morning to Sequim Middle staff.
Riccobene has worked for the Sequim School District since 2003.
His career as an educator began in the Tumwater School District, where he taught a variety of elementary levels.
He was a sixth-grade teacher and had received his administrative internship when he was hired by the Sequim district.
From 2003 to 2010, he served as principal of Helen Haller Elementary.
In July 2010, Riccobene became the director of instruction, and that position changed to his current role as executive director of teaching and learning.
