New results due Friday in Clallam County

PORT ANGELES -Between 7,000 and 8,000 last-minute ballots will be counted at about 4:30 p.m. Friday, Clallam County Auditor Patty Rosand says.

There are two very close elections – a 43-vote difference between Steve Baxter, with 2,442 votes, and Susan Hillgren. 2,399 votes, for Port Angeles School Board Position 5, and the Port Angeles City Council Position 7 race between Cherry Kidd, 1,711 votes, and Grant Munro, 1,595 votes.

It is unknown how many of the outstanding ballots from around the county apply to the Port Angeles races.

On Tuesday night, the Clallam auditor’s office counted 14,720 ballots, or 34 percent of the 43,296 mail-in ballots sent out Oct. 17.

There were 4,516 additional ballots in hand but not processed. They will be among the ballots counted Friday.
