SEQUIM — The second annual Back-2-School 2-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk will be Saturday,
Sept. 7.
The course will begin and end at the high school stadium at 601 N. Sequim Ave. Parking is available in the Fir Street stadium parking lot.
The route will be entirely on school district property and will include obstacles such as a hay bale climb, tire drill, flat Stanley limbo, precipitation pass and homework hill.
Race-day registration will begin at 10 a.m. The race will start at 11 a.m. Registration also can be done in advance.
The entry fee is $5 per person. Families of five or more who are living in the same household can register for $20.
First-, second- and third-place ribbons will be awarded to each age group.
Age groups are kindergarten through second grade, third through fifth grade, sixth through eighth grade, ninth through 12th grade and adults 18 and older.
Kindergarten-through-fifth-grade participants must be accompanied by parents or guardians.
All participants can take part in drawings for door prizes at the end of the race.
The run is organized by the Sequim School District, Sequim Education Foundation and Anytime Fitness.
Proceeds will benefit Sequim students through Sequim Education Foundation classroom grants.
Cash or checks will be accepted for registration.
Checks should be made out to the Sequim Education Foundation, a nonprofit organization that sponsors such events as the Student Film Festival, Student Engineering Challenge, Classroom Grants Program, Student Enrichment Grants, Shoes for Kids Program and the annual SEF Variety Show.
