PORT ANGELES — Black Ball Ferry Line’s M.V. Coho ferry, which runs daily between Victoria and Port Angeles, will take its annual maintenance break from Tuesday through Jan. 31.
During the refit, the Coho will refurbish vehicle and passenger deck spaces and upgrade its WiFi capability, with the intention of providing complementary high-speed broadband service for the entire crossing.
The Coho’s last sailing from Port Angeles will be Monday at 8:20 a.m. The last sailing from Victoria will be that day at 10:30 a.m.
Regular service will resume on Feb. 1 when the Coho departs Port Angeles at 8:20 a.m. and leaves Victoria at 4 p.m.

Landing practice
COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island at the outlying field mid-afternoon through early evening Wednesday.
Operations will continue midafternoon and then in the evening Thursday.

Parks vacancy
SEQUIM — Applications are due by Jan. 31 for a vacant position on the board governing the Sequim YMCA.

District No. 1 — a junior taxing district — is the governing board for the facility generally known as Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center (SARC). The facility continues to be owned by the citizens of the district, is leased for operation and maintenance to the Olympic Peninsula YMCA and is referred to as the Sequim Y.
The two-year term will expire in December 2019.
Applicants must be registered to vote and must live within the portion of the Sequim School District boundaries included within Clallam County.

Applications will be reviewed, and selected candidates will be interviewed by the board.

PORT ANGELES — Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will hold an informal orientation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19.
Those who are interested in volunteering, or seeking to learn more about hospice are encouraged to attend the free event at hospice’s office, 540 E. Eighth St.
Volunteer positions include — but are not limited to — delivery drivers, assisting with IT or office support, and respite caregivers.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School winter dance tickets are available now.
The prom will be from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday in the gym at the high school at 304 E. Park Ave.
Tickets may be purchased in the high school’s main office. From Monday through Friday, tickets will be $15 per person. No tickets will be sold at the door.

WACO — Wilson Brannon Eiland, formerly of Port Angeles, was named to the dean’s academic honor roll for the 2017 fall quarter at Baylor University.
