NEWS BRIEFS: Crescent school board meeting set for Thursday; Port Angeles graduate earns certificate

JOYCE — The Crescent School District Board of Directors is expected during its meeting Thursday to authorize the superintendent to accept a bid for a gym light project, and paving behind the gym and in front of the shop.

The meeting will be held at the Crescent School library, 50350 state Highway 112, at 7 p.m.

Also on the agenda is adopting the 2018-19 salary and wage agreements and adopting the 2018-19 budget.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Port Angeles High School graduate Marcus Trujillo earned a Skill Point Certificate in Cabinetmaking during the 2018 SkillsUSA Championships.

More than 6,300 students vied during the June 27-28 competition which occupied 1.4 million square feet, equivalent to 20 football fields or 25 acres.

Students were invited to the event to demonstrate their technical skills, workplace skills and personal skills in 102 hands-on occupational and leadership competitions including robotics, automotive technology, drafting, criminal justice, aviation maintenance and public speaking, according to a news release.
