NEWS BRIEFS: Fun Run registration … and other items

PORT ANGELES — Registration is being accepted now for the Healthy Families Run for Safe Families on Saturday.

The run will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. along the Waterfront Trail starting and ending at City Pier. Options of 5K and 10K distances are available.

The fee is $25 for adults and $10 for children younger than 18. Family pricing is offered to families of three or more who register together.

To register, go to the Healthy Families of Clallam County’s Facebook page. Registration also will be available at the starting line the day of the event beginning at 9 a.m.

Proceeds will support local adult and child victims and survivors.

All runners and walkers, strollers, children and dogs (on leashes) are welcome.

Water and snacks will be provided at the finish line.

The run is sponsored by Port Angeles Realty, Crossfit Thunder Ridge, the Port Angeles Fire Department Employee Association and the Port Angeles Police Department Employee Association.

Local Realtor earns senior designation

SEQUIM — After attending classes over the course of several months, Andrea Gilles of Professional Real Estate in Sequim has obtained a Senior Real Estate Specialist designation.

Gilles received the title from the National Association of Realtors on Sept. 26.

With the designation, she can effectively assess the market for those transitioning to retirement, be familiar with the application of federal laws for Housing for Older Persons Act and counsel buyers and sellers on a variety of topics that affect real estate purchases, including acting as a resource for aging in place, according to a news release.
