FORKS — WorkSource Clallam County and Peninsula College will sponsor two workshops for all laid-off Interfor workers on Thursday.
The workshops will be held at Forks High School, 261 Spartan Ave.
The first will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and the second will be 2 p.m. to
4 p.m.
Interfor announced July 31 that it was pulling the plug on its West End operations, closing its Beaver sawmill and Forks planer mill and consolidating some of those operations at the company’s Port Angeles mill.
The closures affect 52 workers in Beaver and an additional 35 at the Forks mill.
Thursday’s workshops will provide information about unemployment insurance benefits, employment and training resources, and related services.

Inca shaman to make visit to PT center
PORT TOWNSEND — Inca shaman Washington Gibaja “Washi” Tapia of Peru’s sacred valley will share the teachings of his lineage in a community event at the Unity Spiritual Enrichment Center, 3918 San Juan Ave., on Friday, Aug. 22, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Washi has been gifted since childhood with healing abilities, clairvoyance and a sensitivity that helps him see into the body and soul on many levels, according to a news release. He has been trained by shamans from the Andes.
A frequent speaker, Washi’s focus is on raising funds for Path of the Heart and his projects.
Path of the Heart, a nonprofit organization led by Washi, offers service programs to the children and families of the high Andes.
Participants are asked to contribute donations of $10 to $30 for the talk.

Private healing sessions are also available via email Aug. 23-24 on a sliding-scale basis of $75 to $90.

Popcorn for glasses
PORT ANGELES — Anyone who donates a pair of eyeglasses at the Port Angeles Lions Club food booth during the Clallam County Fair between Thursday and Sunday will receive a free bag of popcorn.
The food booth is located next to the grandstand.
Acceptable donations include prescription glasses, reading glasses, sunglasses and plastic and metal frames. Broken glasses also will be accepted.
Children’s glasses are especially needed.

SEQUIM — The Sequim-Dungeness Hospital Guild Thrift Shop, 204 W. Bell St., will be open Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
All white-tagged items will be marked half-price during the sale.
The shop is stocked with summer and early fall fashions, household items, jewelry, glassware and linens.
Consignors and volunteers are always needed.
