NEWS BRIEFS: Mysterious NW talk Thursday in Port Townsend … and other items

PORT TOWNSEND — Three authors will discuss the “mysterious Northwest” at the Port Townsend Library, 1220 Lawrence St., at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Authors Rachel Bukey, Curt Colbert and Martha Crites will be part of a panel discussion moderated by Waverly Fitzgerald, the managing editor of Rat City Publishing, a local press that publishes mysteries set in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.

These Seattle mystery writers will read short passages from their books and describe how and why they write mysteries.

There will be a chance to purchase signed books after the readings.

NAMI presentation

PORT ANGELES — NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) of Clallam County will present a community conversation, “What is Right about Being Wrong?,” at Olympic Medical Center’s Linkletter Hall, 939 Caroline St., at 7 p.m. Thursday.

According to a news release, “‘Wrongologist’ Kathryn Schulz will make a compelling case for not just admitting but embracing our fallibility.”

Special Olympics

PORT ANGELES — A Special Olympics pasta feast, silent auction and raffle will take place at Shirley’s Cafe, 612 S. Lincoln St., from 4:40 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

All proceeds will go toward funding the Special Olympics in Clallam County.
