The North Olympic Library System will present “Gardening on the West End” at two of its libraries.
The events will occur at library branches in Clallam Bay, 16990 state Highway 112 at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 16; and Forks, 171 S. Forks Ave. at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 17.
Both events, presented by area gardener Karolyn Burdick, are free and open to the public.
Burdick will help attendees prepare a garden space for planting by speaking about timing, record keeping and succession planting, and will share tips and tricks she has learned throughout the years, according to a news release.
She specializes in adapting planting to the local climate and soil conditions.
Her gardening accolades include a degree in botany from the University of Washington, Master Gardening classes, and assisting in starting the Clallam Bay-Sekiu community garden.

Stylist back at Shear Elegance
PORT ANGELES — Monica Salazar recently announced that she has returned from medical leave to resume her services at Shear Elegance Salon.
She is available at the salon at 210 E. Fourth St., from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesdays, 9 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays.
By request Salazar can stay later Tuesdays through Fridays, according to a news release.
She received hairstyling training from Gene Juarez Academy.
She specializes in all hair styles, as well as chemical services, men and womens’ haircuts, updos, braiding, extensions, and waxing and shaping brows.
Salazar is taking new clients and walk-ins are welcome. Appointments are recommended, according to a release.

St. Andrew’s offers healing service in PA
PORT ANGELES — St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church will offer the public a nondenominational service of healing at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The service of prayer, music and light will be held at the church, 510 E. Park Ave. Laying on hands and anointing will be offered.

Unity speaker
PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. Sunday service speaker will be George Lindamood.
His lesson at the church at 2917 E. Myrtle St. is titled “Stalking the Inscrutable Equanimoose — The Buddhist Idea of Equanimity.”
Lindamood spent 42 years in information technology doing research, teaching, writing, lecturing, consulting, managing and coaching.
A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Child care is available during the service.
Buffet luncheon
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Christian Women’s Connection will host a buffet luncheon at the Port Angeles CrabHouse restaurant from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
For $18, attendees can partake in the luncheon at the CrabHouse, 221 N. Lincoln St.
The event will feature a talk by Master Gardener Rita Canada.
Charney Trudell will provide musical entertainment. Diane M. Bassett of Chehalis will talk about family conflict resolution.
