NEWS BRIEFS: State Rep. Steve Tharinger to attend Port Townsend Indivisible meeting today … and other items

PORT TOWNSEND — State Rep. Steve Tharinger, D-Sequim, will attend PT Indivisible’s meeting today at 5 p.m.

Tharinger will speak about the importance of holding a majority in the state House of Representatives at the Unity Center at 3918 San Juan Ave., according to a press release.

The public is invited to the free meeting.

His talk will also cover the importance of partnering to make the state Legislature successful.

Park board meeting

SEQUIM — The Clallam County Park & Recreation District No. 1 will gather for a meeting at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The meeting will be held at the Sequim YMCA at 610 N. Fifth Ave.

The agenda includes a financial report and the Y’s quarterly updates for the Sequim and Olympic Peninsula branches.

Other items include the election of officers.

Discovery Memory Care earns award

SEQUIM — Discovery Memory Care is the recipient of Pinnacle Quality Insight’s 2018 Customer Experience Award.

Discovery qualified for the award in the communication, menu choices and quality of food categories.

By qualifying for the award, Discovery scored in the top 15 percent of the nation across a 12-month average.

Throughout the course of 2017, a sampling of Discovery’s resident family members have participated in monthly telephone interviews that include open-ended questions, as well the opportunity to rate the memory care community in specific categories.

Every month, Discovery has gathered its real-time survey results in order to gain a better understanding of the residents’ needs and make improvements when necessary, according to a news release.

Kathy Burrer, executive director of Discovery, described receiving the award as an honor, according to the release.

Insight is a customer satisfaction measurement firm with 22 years of experience in post-acute healthcare.
