CHIMACUM — No injuries were reported following a barn fire on Gibbs Road just off West Valley Road, according to a news release from East Jefferson Fire and Rescue.
The fire was reported at 7:15 p.m. Sunday and no animals were inside the barn, the fire department said. The barn’s owners were trying to fight the fire with the water they had available.
The first fire engine arrived to find the two-story barn engulfed in flames, the fire department said. The barn was located up a long driveway, making access difficult, but a drone from the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office provided firefighters with an aerial view.
The fire was knocked down shortly after 8 p.m., the fire department said. The cause is undetermined and remained under investigation on Monday. The barn was declared a total loss.
East Jefferson Fire and Rescue responded with two fire engines, three tenders, a medical services officer and a battalion chief. The sheriff’s office also sent a deputy.
