SEQUIM — No one was hurt in a blaze where firefighters pulled a half-burned mattress and blankets out of a home at 871 E. Bellfield St. this morning.
The home received extensive fire, heat and smoke damage from the fire reported shortly before 9:30 a.m.
Later in the morning, firefighters were venting the home with fans after they had cut through the smoky rooftop.
The cause of the blaze was not determined, and the owner of the home said the renter would move to another rental he owned.
“I just got a call at work and they told me the house is on fire,” said owner Chad Copeland, who was being interviewed by Fire Chief Steve Vogel at the scene.
Several trucks responded to the scene in East Sequim in a neighborhood just south of the Sequim Senior Activity Center.
