Nordland: Red tide warning issued for Kilisut Harbor

NORDLAND — A red tide warning has been issued for Kilisut Harbor, including Scow Harbor, Mystery Bay and Fort Flagler.

Barb Bowen, of Jefferson County’s natural resources division, said Friday that beaches were closed Wednesday to shellfishing after concentrations of the toxin that causes Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning were found at dangerous levels in Scow Bay.

Mats Mats Bay has also been closed, although tests have come back negative, she said.
