PORT ANGELES — Burn bans were lifted today in Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Regular outdoor burning is now permitted in unincorporated areas.
However, urban growth areas — including Port Angeles, Sequim, Carlsborg, Forks, Joyce, Clallam Bay and Sekiu — are restricted from outdoor burning under state law, said Annette Warren, Clallam County fire marshal.
Yard debris burning is never allowed in the city of Port Townsend or the Irondale-Port Hadlock urban growth area, East Jefferson Fire-Rescue spokesman Bill Beezley said.
Clallam and Jefferson counties loosened burning restrictions after rains and cooler temperatures lowered the fire danger in early September.
The state Department of Natural Resources lifted its ban on outdoor burning in Western Washington on Sept. 18.
