SEQUIM — Saying it has the most favorable features, Clallam County commissioners unanimously approved the proposed Olympic Discovery Trail route north of U.S. Highway 101 east of the city.
Although Dawley Road-area neighbors say they will not sell land for a trail right of way, commissioners voiced support for the less-costly route at a meeting Tuesday in Port Angeles.
Neighbors fear the trail will change the character of their neighborhood and disturb their solitude.
The route, with right of way land acquisition costs estimated at $297,990 for 16 parcels, would run from the east side of Sequim Bay State Park to Schindler Road.
