PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center is seeking applicants to represent Clallam County Hospital District No. 2’s District 1 as a hospital commissioner.
OMC has been without a seventh commissioner since the December death of Arlene Engel.
The successful applicant will be appointed until the 2013 general election, after which an elected commissioner will hold the position for a two-year-term.
Qualified applicants must live in District 1, which covers the Sequim area from the Dungeness River to the eastern Clallam County boundary.
OMC commissioners are expected to attend two board meetings per month at the Port Angeles hospital and additional committee work as assigned.
Board meetings are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at 6 p.m.
Interviews March 7
The six sitting commissioners will conduct public interviews of potential applicants March 7.
Applications are due by Feb. 24.
OMC commissioners are nonpartisan positions. Commissioners are paid $90 per meeting and up to $8,640 annually. They are eligible for the same insurance as other hospital employees.
The board is responsible for passing a general fund budget of about $130 million.
OMC is the North Olympic Peninsula’s largest employer, with more than 1,100 employees.
