A 48-year-old hiker reported missing in Olympic National Park was found safe and in good condition Monday.
Greg Grimstad of University Place was located after being spotted by aerial observers along Six Stream, a tributary of the North Fork Skokomish River in the southeast part of the park.
Park spokesperson Barb Maynes says Grimstad, an experienced hiker, was expected home Saturday night after a day hike along the north fork of the Skokomish area.
Grimstad had planned a 13-mile hike on a trail along the north fork on Saturday, then planned to retrace a portion of an 1890 expedition to Big Log camp. He was found not far from his intended route.
Staff and volunteers from the park, volunteers from Olympic Mountain Rescue and German shepherd search dogs were involved in the search.
