FORKS — Olympic National Park personnel breathed a sigh of relief Tuesday after they found an overdue Taiwanese exchange student safe but injured near the Hoh Trail.
Ho Ching Chen was found late Tuesday afternoon after hikers spotted an illegal off-trail campfire and reported it to a park ranger.
Larry Nickel, who heads up the park’s fire aviation and rescue efforts, said rangers responded and two were with Chen late Tuesday to evaluate her medical condition.
The injured hiker is expected to be airlifted out of the park sometime today.
