Oscars provide fine excuse for dressing up for party in Port Angeles [**GALLERY**]

PORT ANGELES — Glitz and glamor galore overflowed from a bevy of people supporting Olympic Medical Center Foundation at the third annual “Hollywood Nights.”

More than 300 people attended the event at the Vern Burton Community Center to watch the Academy Awards in style, said Bruce Skinner, executive director of the OMC Foundation.

“That is about 80 more than last year,” he said.

All of the money raised goes to support the foundation, which then gives funds to many departments at Olympic Medical Center, he said.

A final number on funds raised was awaiting the final tally of the silent and live auctions.

Kendra Fors and Kourtney Konopaski attended wearing dresses borrowed from Fors’ mother’s attic.

“I was going to wear a dress I wore to a Hollywood premiere, but then my mom brought these down,” she said indicating her sparkly, sequined pink dress and Konopaski’s white lace number.

“I said, ‘Yeah, bring on the ’80s.’”

Attending the Port Angeles event was a first for both, but each woman has attended other red carpet events.

Fors attended the premiere of “Pineapple Express” with Port Angeles actor Arthur Napiontek, and Konopaski attended the Country Music Awards last year.

“This is a great event,” Konopaski said.

“I will for sure attend next year — I love how everyone dresses up because we never do anymore.

“It is something I wish we did more often.”

President of the Olympic Medical Center Foundation Julie Hatch, who is also a manager at Key Bank, dressed up as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” — and even had a (not real) Toto along in a basket.

She said she already had her outfit ready in a trunk of costumes.

“I love doing costuming,” she said.

“And it is great to be able to have this for the foundation.”
