PORT ANGELES — Two City Council subcommittees will review whether the city should lease the former On The Boardwalk restaurant building prior to completion of the Port Angeles International Gateway Transportation Center project.
The possible policy change was prompted by artist Bob Stokes’ request to the council for a short-term lease on the building at 110 E. Railroad Ave.
Stokes said that he and glass blower Paul LaBrie want to put a glass-blowing studio, metal-working studio and retail area in the building.
He is proposing only a short-term lease because it would allow a developer to have a tenant in the space paying rent during the permitting process, Stokes said.
He and LaBrie would make all the building improvements themselves, he added.
