Lower Elwha Klallam tribal officials host the Paddle Journey canoe landing at Hollywood Beach in Port Angeles today.
Lower Elwha canoe skipper Phil Charles said the tribe will launch two canoes at about 10 a.m. from Port Angeles Boat Haven to greet the 17 canoes traveling from Jamestown Beach.
Charles said the tribe plans to have all canoes wait near the mouth of Ennis Creek before coming to the beach in a ceremonial fashion.
The landing should occur between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Charles said.
The best vantage points are from City Pier and the Waterfront Trail east of the Red Lion Hotel.
Between 20 and 22 canoes will depart for Esquimalt, British Columbia, on Wednesday morning.
The time of departure has not been determined yet.
The pull across the Strait of Juan de Fuca is expected to take about six hours.
