THE FOURTH OF JULY will be celebrated with parades and fireworks across the North Olympic Peninsula today.
Here is a list of events arranged by community:
PORT ANGELES
Parade, fireworks
PORT ANGELES — A parade, complete with a Coast Guard helicopter fly-over, music and fireworks, will help Port Angeles celebrate Independence Day.
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. down Lincoln Street before turning onto First Street and proceeding to Valley Street.
The Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce will provide sound systems and announcers at Veterans Park, Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain at First and Laurel streets, and the corner of Oak and First streets.
Country band Old Sidekicks will perform at the Concert on the Pier series on City Pier starting at 7 p.m.
Fat Chance will perform rock ‘n’ roll classics until the evening fireworks show.
Fireworks will begin at about 10 p.m. over Port Angeles Harbor.
Prime viewing locations include City Pier, the waterfront trail or Ediz Hook, where amateur fireworks displays commonly are held before and after the big fireworks display.
A fireworks cleanup typically is held at Ediz Hook the day after the Fourth of July.

Boat parades
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Yacht Club will celebrate Independence Day with a pair of decorated boat parades at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Boats will queue up for the parades just outside the entrance to the Port Angeles Boat Haven.
They will make a loop, traveling north to the shoreline of Ediz Hook, then east to the end of the Hook before heading south toward Olympic Medical Center, turning west to cruise along the shoreline past City Pier and then returning to the entrance of the Boat Haven.

Wine bar viewing area
PORT ANGELES — Wine on the Waterfront, the wine bar at The Landing mall, will again open an outdoor fireworks-viewing area tonight. The pyrotechnics will blast off soon after nightfall.

FORKS/WEST END
Parade at noon
FORKS — Forks will celebrate with its Old Fashioned Fourth of July Grand Parade, demolition derby and fireworks show.
Today will begin with a Fourth of July breakfast at the Forks Elks Lodge, 941 Merchants Road, from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The menu will include ham, sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, french toast, scrambled eggs and orange juice or coffee.
The breakfast is $7 for ages 12 years and older, $5 for ages 5 to 11 years and free for seniors and those ages 4 and younger.
The Grand Parade will begin at noon in the Forks Transit Center parking lot, 551 S. Forks Ave.
The Forks Lions Club Salmon Bake will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Tillicum Park.
The demolition derby will begin at 3 p.m. in the Tillicum Park arena.
Tickets are $8.
Music will be performed from 6:30 p.m. until the fireworks at dusk, both in Tillicum Park.
The celebration will continue through Friday, when a Midnight Madness sale is planned in downtown Forks from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Neah Bay fireworks
NEAH BAY — Fireworks are planned in Neah Bay at dusk on the Fourth of July.
The fireworks, sponsored by the Makah Tribal Council, will be on Front Beach.
SEQUIM
KSQM barbecue
SEQUIM — Sequim radio station KSQM 91.5 FM will celebrate Independence Day with its third annual “Bobs-R-Q.”
The barbecue fundraiser will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the station, 577 W. Washington St., in the Kite Girl Plaza.
It will be hosted by a bunch of Bobs who are volunteering at KSQM 91.5 FM. They include general manager Bob Spinks and his “Five-0 Radio Show” partner, Bob Rhoads, along with veteran radio announcer Bob Massey, chief engineer Bob Sampson and tower project director Bob Schilling.
The event will feature a tribute to the men and women of the military, with the American Legion Patriot Guard Riders forming a flag line and kicking off the festivities at 11 a.m.
Live music will run until 2 p.m. with singer Kate Lily, the Tyrolean Trio, the Old .Time Trio, Aspire Quartet and the No Batteries Required Quartet.
The celebration also will include the Sequim Valley Car Club’s annual KSQM car show. The public will vote on top vehicles.
The Sequim Fire Department will have the ladder on a firetruck raised high, and “the Stars and Stripes will be waving proudly for all to enjoy and salute,” Spinks said.
Hot dogs and baked beans will be served, with donations accepted.
Donations will go to the nonprofit station’s operations.
Songs and barbecue
SEQUIM — A pair of singers will dish up some Americana, bluegrass and country music along with a barbecue today.
Jim Faddis of Prairie Flyer and Cort Armstrong of Blue Rooster — both local Sequim musiciains — will play Hardy’s Market, 10200 Old Olympic Highway.
The songs and the barbecue will go from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. on the market patio.
The barbecue is free to veterans. For others, hamburgers are $3, and hot dogs and ice-cream cones are $2. Proceeds will go to help veterans in need.

PORT TOWNSEND
Fireworks at fort
PORT TOWNSEND — The annual Old-Fashioned Fourth of July at Port Townsend’s Fort Worden State Park will begin at 5 p.m. with kids’ games and lawn pinball and end with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.
This is the only legal fireworks show in the city, though they are permitted outside the city limits.
Visitors arriving before 7 p.m. can obtain a Discover Pass that will provide access to all state parks or a $10 day pass that will be available at the park’s main office or at pay stations around the park.
No Discover Pass will be needed after 7 p.m.

Free exhibits
PORT TOWNSEND — Port Townsend Marine Science Center exhibits will be free from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Fourth of July.
Admission will be free to the Marine Exhibit and Natural History Exhibit at the center on the beach at Fort Worden State Park.
The center also will offer fish printing, or Gyotaku.
A Discover Pass is not needed to visit center buildings.
