FORKS — Parents will get their first look inside the three newly reorganized Forks schools at 6 p.m. Monday.
Quillayute Valley School District will hold a parent information night and tours of the pre-kindergarten through eighth grade schools, beginning with the meeting in the Forks High School commons, at 261 S. Spartan Ave.
The meeting is for all parents of students affected by the restructuring process in the pre-K-8 schools.
It will be followed by a required fall sports meeting at 7 p.m. for parents and students who will take part in fall sports in the district this year.
The reorganization meeting will include a walking tour of the district’s newly reorganized schools — Forks Elementary, Forks Intermediate and Forks Junior High schools.
District officials have said that the reorganization is designed to address low reading scores in the third grade and to address behavior issues at the former middle school.
Forks Elementary School, once a kindergarten through fifth-grade school, will now be a pre-kindergarten through third-grade school.
The pre-kindergarten program, once located in a set of portable classrooms behind the elementary school, have been moved into the elementary building.
Forks Intermediate School, once Forks Middle School for sixth through eighth grades, is now fourth through sixth grades.
Seventh and eighth grade students will now attend Forks Junior High School, in a building between the intermediate school and Forks High School once known as the Annex.
The buildings have received several upgrades during the summer, including new computer labs, a new roof on the junior high and a new protected drop-off area and a playground at the intermediate school.
