PORT ANGELES — Park View Villas held a “grand reopening” celebration to mark the end of its three-year, three-phase construction project.
“We are very excited about the completion of our expansion,” said John LeClerc, executive director of the 24-year-old assisted-living community in west Port Angeles.
“We can now comfortably serve Clallam County with outstanding and caring retirement living for another 20 plus years.”
Park View Villas features 87 assisted-living apartments and 20 cottages at 1430 Park View Lane.
The event Thursday began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony followed by champagne, appetizers and songs by vocalist Sarah Shea.
Outgrew wellness center
LeClerc said the growth of residents receiving nursing services in recent years prompted the expansion project.
“The number of residents receiving nursing services has doubled,” he said.
“We simply outgrew the wellness center, which was half the size of the new one.”
The project began by developing a new commercial laundry for the community’s housekeeping staff in 2011, followed by construction of a new wellness center.
The previous wellness center was converted into a private dining room for residents, their families and community members in need of a gathering place.
The final phase of development involved enclosing an atrium to enlarge the retirement and assisted-living community’s current dining room.
“Not only will this addition be great for our current residents, but we will be able to offer use of the atrium to the general public,” LeClerc said.
Community members can use the new 700-square-foot atrium enclosure for meetings and presentations.
It features a projection screen and beverage bar.
Local design, construction
The project was designed by Lindberg & Smith Architects of Port Angeles and completed by Hoch Construction, also of Port Angeles.
Park View Villas has licensed staff available at all hours to assist residents with their daily activities, LeClerc said.
Services include bathing, dressing, medication management and mobility.
Park View also offers exercise classes, games and social events seven days a week.
The community is managed by Village Concepts, a third-generation, family-owned company with 13 retirement and assisted-living centers in the Puget Sound, Olympic Peninsula and Central Washington areas.
