Gusty winds and heavy rains knocked out power and caused localized flooding in Clallam and Jefferson counties Wednesday.
Wind ripped through Forks and along U.S. Highway 101 at about 2 p.m., knocking down six power poles, Clallam County Public Utility District No. 1 Distribution Systems Manager Dave Proebstel said.
“There are three poles down in the city and three a couple miles east of Forks,” he said.
About 3,500 West End residents from Lake Crescent to Forks and south to Hoh Reservation were without power, he said.
Power outages were also reported in Brinnon, Port Townsend and in the eastern Port Angeles area.
Weather officials also instituted a high wind warning and flood watch for both Clallam and Jefferson counties.
