Delivery of the Peninsula Daily News will be delayed from this coming Sunday through the following Sunday, March 25, because of overnight closures of the Hood Canal Bridge.
The bridge will be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Saturday night so a contractor for the state Department of Transportation — Northbank Civil and Marine Inc. — can rebuild and replace internal mechanics of the bridge’s drawspan, a $5.2 million project.
The Peninsula Daily News is printed in Everett, and the closure will mean the delivery truck must travel an additional 110 miles to get the newspaper from the press to the North Olympic Peninsula.
Our carriers will do their utmost to expedite delivery to your door. We appreciate your patience.
More closures might be necessary before the project is completed, although none has been scheduled yet, Transportation said.
