PDN’s bridal show offers solutions today for every bride on her big day — and it’s free!

PORT ANGELES — All the resources for planning a picture-perfect wedding will be available at the Peninsula Daily News Bridal Show today.

“You can plan your entire wedding under one roof,” said Sue Stoneman of the PDN, an organizer of the show, which will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elks Naval Lodge, 121 E. First St., Port Angeles. Admission is free.

“We have everything you need to plan a wedding,” Stoneman said.

“But it isn’t just weddings — you could plan any event that would need caterers, photographers, travel agents and cakes.”

The show will feature about 25 vendors, who offer services and merchandise in all specialities of wedding planning — as well as financial planning and formal wear.

The theme of the show this year is “A Wedding Made in Heaven.”

Wedding dresses, flowers and accessories from North Olympic Peninsula stores will be displayed during two fashion shows — at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

In addition to featuring attire for the day of the wedding, the show will have outfits for the honeymoon and other occasions.

The best spot to watch the show will be from the mezzanine balcony.

Back by popular demand is the “Build Your Own Wedding Dress” contest in which brides and friends will be challenged to create a wedding dress out of such nontraditional materials as toilet paper, aluminum foil and garbage bags, as well as a few ribbons and bows.

Competitors must sign up for the contest — which begins at 11:45 a.m. — early in the day because limited spots are available, Stoneman said.

The winner of the contest will win an array of prizes from vendors at the show.

The show also will offer drawings for prizes as well as free samples from many of the bridal show’s vendors.

New this year is the serving of lunch on the second floor, running from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lunch and cocktails will be available for $8, Stoneman said.

“The great thing is that people can go wander around, pick up some information and then sit down and talk about it and spread out all that information on a table,” she said.

“Then they can go back and even start booking things, if they like, after having a chance to think and talk about it.”
