SEQUIM — A wedding should respect tradition.
But it ought to be fun, too.
That’s the theme of the Peninsula Daily News Bridal Show on Saturday.
The largest wedding services event in Jefferson and Clallam counties, it will be held at the Guy Cole Convention Center in Sequim’s Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Ave., from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Admission is free.
More than 25 wedding-related businesses, including caterers, bakers, florists, travel agents and photographers, will have booths at the show.
The wedding expo will also feature bridal fashion shows at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., hosted by Belva Bodey, owner of Black Diamond Bridal in Port Angeles.
Her models will be wearing custom wedding gowns by Belva, including some in plus sizes, along with bridesmaid, flower girl and prom dresses.
Saturday’s expo will also feature:
* Drawings for more than 20 door prizes ranging from bridal magazines to restaurant gift certificates to an overnight stay at the Lake Quinault Lodge.
* Free samples from many of the vendors.
‘Good memories’
Planning to attend the PDN’s bridal show is Carolyn Havley, 23, of Port Ludlow.
She envisions her wedding as “something small, semi-traditional, a nice warm occasion without too much pomp and circumstance, just some good memories.
“I want to have good memories, good pictures and good times without too much stress.”
Heidi Hertz, 26, of Sequim envisions something “traditional, but not too traditional.”
She said she and her intended husband plan to observe a lot of the wedding traditions, such as avoiding each other on the day of the ceremony, and the bride’s traditional walk up the center aisle of the church.
But she also wants the day to be “laid back” and “friends-based.”
