PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College has announced that international student Saki Kambe, managing editor of The Buccaneer, has received an honorable mention in the 2020 Pacific Northwest Association Journalism Educators contest.
Kambe was recognized in the general news category for her article “Makah Tribe Treaty Rights and Whaling, Decision Imminent” in Vol. 62, No. 6 of The Buccaneer paper which was published on March 7.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Kambe has been managing the student-run paper from home in Japan.
