Crime rates rose in Clallam County but decreased in Jefferson County from 2000 to 2001, according to recently released statistics.
Sixteen percent more crimes were committed last year than in 2000 in Clallam County, while 13 percent fewer crimes were committed in Jefferson County during the same period.
The figures, released late last week by the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs, represent agencies in both counties reporting their total numbers of violent and property crimes for both years.
