Impacts of last Thursday’s statewide 9-1-1 outage on the North Olympic Peninsula differed for Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Steve Romberg, communications manager for Peninsula Communications, or PenCom, which dispatches 9-1-1 calls for Clallam County, said CenturyLink reported 32 calls that could not get through to PenCom by calling 9-1-1 during the six-hour outage.
Romberg said 19 came from three Port Angeles numbers that were eventually able to get through via the Police Department’s business line.
An additional 13 were listed as coming from local cellphone towers, Romberg said, and dispatchers are still working to track down their source.
Jeffcom 9-1-1 Director Karl Hatton, which handles emergency calls in Jefferson County, said CentryLink reported four calls that were not able to get through to Jeffcom 9-1-1.
He said those were test calls made by his dispatchers.
