A Poulsbo man has been hired to coordinate homeland security on the Kitsap and Olympic peninsulas.

John Szymanski will work with emergency management officials in Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties as well as on seven area reservations to coordinate regional security.

Szymanski, a retired operations manufacturing director for McDonnell Douglas and Boeing aircraft companies, is an employee of the Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management.
