The unemployment rate in Clallam and Jefferson counties decreased in February, according to new state figures.
A report released Tuesday by the state Employment Security Department show unemployment dropped in Clallam County from 9.3 percent in January to 8.6 percent in February.
Unemployment in Jefferson County dropped from 8.3 percent to 7.3 percent during the same period.
Last year’s February unemployment rates were 9.6 percent in Clallam County and 6.8 percent in Jefferson County.
Statewide, the unemployment rate decreased from 8.3 percent to 8 percent in February this year.
