PORT ANGELES — At the end of the first week of trial, the trip home for 15 Island County residents hearing Thomas Martin Roberts’ murder case in Port Angeles took three ferries, patience — and a vote.
A heavy fog hanging over Admiralty Inlet on Thursday prompted the cancellation of all but one run of the Klickitat ferry from Port Townsend to Keystone, leaving jurors temporarily stranded on the North Olympic Peninsula.
“It was kind of frantic for a few moments,” Clallam County Superior Court Administrator Lindy Clevenger said Friday.
The 12 regular jurors and three alternates stay in a Port Angeles motel while trial is in session.
