PORT ANGELES — On Friday, Clallam County Pro Bono Lawyers recognized several area attorneys who volunteer their time in civil legal matters to help people of limited income.
David Johnson of Port Angeles received the Distinguished Service Award for his efforts at the group’s annual Law Day Luncheon — most notably when he represented a Port Angeles mother of three in a trial that resulted in a judgment for $26,000 in back child support.
“I know that Dave spent more than 80 hours as a volunteer working on my case,” the mother, Viola O’Neil, said in a speech at the Port Angeles event. “Without Dave we would have nothing.”
Another Distinguished Service Award went to attorney Brent Basden, of the Wolfley, Basden and Hansen law firm in Port Angeles.
