Lightning touched off at least two “spot fires”‘ in Olympic National Park on Sunday, park officials said.
Two park system firefighters were dispatched Sunday afternoon, but a specific location of the fires was not yet confirmed, a park dispatcher said.
Larry Nickey, the park’s fire management officer, said two other firefighters were sent to locate and investigate the extent of the fires.
It was not known Sunday night if any fire was spreading in the park.
Nickey said a column of smoke from one of the fires had died down.
