KENNEWICK —The Peninsula College men’s basketball team edged the Green River Gators 53-51 on Monday to claim third place at the Northwest Athletic Conference tournament at Toyota Center.
Jal Deng scored 21 points in his final game with the Pirates, making 4 of 5 from 3-point range. The sophomore also grabbed eight rebounds.
Deonte Dixon added 10 points and 4 boards, while Malik Mayeux finished with four points and 10 rebounds.
Peninsula’s trophy is the program’s third in the last five seasons. The Pirates won the NWAC tournament in 2011 and placed fourth in 2012.
