Residents who took to Peninsula roadways Sunday survived new ice and show as safety officials reported no major wrecks.
Snow was coming down hard in the Sequim area, ranging from four inches downtown to eight inches in the Happy Valley area.
More snow was expected overnight.
A snow advisory was issued overnight Sunday for the Sequim-Joyce area. Up to eight inches of snow was predicted for the area from Sequim into Jefferson County.
Relatively little snow was apparent in Port Angeles.
Snow showers were expected to taper off Sunday night in the Olympics, after leaving accumulations to three inches. Predictions for today call for partly cloudy conditions with the freezing level below 500 feet.
The National Weather Service is warning that temperatures are expected to remain well below normal on the West Coast through Thursday.
