PORT ANGELES — For the second time in a little over a year, Olympic Medical Center has received national recognition for quality at its Port Angeles hospital.
The hospital on Monday was notified it had earned the association’s 2003 Citation of Merit award, part of the “Quest for Quality” nationwide competition among hospitals vying for recognition of their quality, safety and commitment to patient care. The American Hospital Association conducted the competition.
The hospital ranked fourth overall, coming in behind much larger and more prominent facilities.
That alone was a coup, according to Mike Glenn, OMC’s chief executive officer.
“This is a national award, and the other hospitals honored in this competition are large medical centers,” Glenn said. “It’s quite an honor, and we feel really good about our leadership in quality care and patient safety.”
