A North Olympic Peninsula woman has taken her love for Halloween and spun it into a new business.
Cari Nansen, who opened the store Just a Thought in Port Angeles in June, can transform a person into Sherlock Holmes, a nurse, hula dancer or flapper for a night.
And especially this Halloween, customers are picking costumes that allow them to forget about the troubles of the day — particularly the terrorist attacks in New York City, Arlington, Va., and elsewhere in the nation and world.
Nansen’s store, located at 118 N. Lincoln St., is one of only a handful of costume shops on the North Olympic Peninsula that specialize in transforming revelers into everything from evil witches to sexy nurses.
Among them:
* Awesome Costumes Rentals, 214 E. Lauridsen Blvd., in Port Angeles, which this year has handled a lot of Medieval themes, owner Cheryl Peters says.
* Design Innovations, 940 Water St., Port Townsend, says it takes costume requests by appointment only.
So why do people of all ages don strange garb to celebrate Allhallows eve every year?
“I think that you are never too old to play dress up,” Nansen says.
