Like a gigantic wave rushing toward shore, the deadline for filing 2002 Federal Income Tax returns is looming, waiting to splash late fees and penalties on those who procrastinate too long.
The deadline for filing federal income tax returns with the federal Internal Revenue Service is midnight Tuesday, April 15.
But for North Olympic Peninsula residents living in outlying areas, the reality of mailing their return comes much earlier in the day.
In fact, filers pushing the midnight deadline could find themselves driving some distance to the nearest post office accepting late returns.
