When there’s a blanket of snow on the ground and you need to catch the bus, Clallam and Jefferson County transit officials say to be prepared for modifications to your route.
Clallam Transit Operations Manager Clint Wetzel said the agency will try to keep buses running on their regular schedules when the occasional snowstorm hits the North Olympic Peninsula this winter.
Severe snow or ice, however, could alter the routes and may cause cancellations.
Below is a rundown of Clallam Transit’s snow plan for this winter.
Clallam Transit
It represents a range of possibilities that will depend on road and weather conditions in specific areas, Wetzel said:
■ No. 10 Joyce: Cut Place Road and/or Ranger Road service. Also may cut service to Lyre River Road.
■ No. 14 Forks: Outbound service would continue to go past Peninsula College if the college is closed.
■ No. 15 LaPush: Route will not run to LaPush when roads are flooded.
■ No. 16 Clallam Bay/Neah Bay: Cut service to the Clallam Bay Corrections Center when the road is not plowed.
■ No. 17 Forks shuttle: No service interruptions are expected.
■ No. 20 College/Plaza: Cut service to Melody Lane and/or the bus stop at First and Lincoln streets in Port Angeles as conditions warrant.
■ No. 22 Lincoln/Peabody: Cut service south of Park Street between Laurel and Peabody streets as conditions warrant. Service on Vine and Orcas streets south of Lauridsen Boulevard may also be cut.
■ No. 26 Westside: Cut service to Lower Elwha Tribal Center with the bus turning around near Dry Creek Elementary School.
■ No. 30 Highway Commuter: May not stop at First and Lincoln streets in Port Angeles.
■ No. 40 Sequim Shuttle: No service interruptions expected.
■ No. 52 Diamond Point: Cut service to Beach Road and turn around at the intersection of Sunshine Avenue and Diamond Point Road.
■ Paratransit: Adjust or temporarily suspend service as conditions warrant. Phone 360-452-4511 for updates to paratransit service.

Jefferson Transit
Jefferson Transit Operations Manager Patty Perry provided snow routes for the eight routes. The changes are minor:
■ No. 1 Brinnon: From Quilcene, it follows U.S. Highway 101 toward Discovery Bay and continues on state Highway 20 to Port Townsend.
■ No. 2 Mountain View Connector: From the Fort Worden gate, the bus turns right on W Street to avoid Cherry Street.
■ No. 3 Castle Hill: Goes straight down 19th Street to San Juan Street and out to Cook Avenue. Turns left on East Caroline Street to 53rd Street.
■ No 6A Tri-Area Loop: Continues on Irondale Road past Seventh Street and turns right on Pattison Street to continue to the regular route.
■ No. 6B Tri-Area Loop: Continues on Irondale Road to state Highway 19 to avoid Fifth Avenue, Maude Street and Seventh Avenue.
■ No. 7A Poulsbo: Oak Bay Road will be used to avoid Paradise Bay Road in snow and ice.
■ No. 7B Poulsbo: Takes Beaver Valley Road when conditions are extreme on Oak Bay Road.
■ No. 11 Shuttle: Continues on Lawrence Street to Monroe Street and continues to the park and ride. Avoids Clay and 12th streets.
