Salmon recovery efforts on North Olympic Peninsula and Hood Canal watersheds received a flood of new grant funding on Monday.
Washington’s Salmon Recovery Funding Board awarded Jefferson and Clallam counties up to $3.25 million in state grants for salmon recovery watershed projects.
The grants, which are expected to fund five salmon recovery projects on Hood Canal watersheds and up to four North Olympic Peninsula projects, represent a 12 percent piece of the state’s $22 million pie.
The grants are awarded through the Salmon Recovery Funding Board and the state’s Interagency Committee for Outdoor Recreation.
