Peninsula: Rep. Dicks receives Friend of Parks award

The National Parks Conservation Association in Washington, D.C., has given a Friend of the National Parks award to Rep. Norm Dicks, D-Bremerton.

The group announced Wednesday it made the award for Dicks’ votes to protect national parks during the 107th Congress.

Dicks has voted against expanded drilling in national monuments and the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Friend of the National Parks awards were given to 49 senators and 166 representatives in the 107th Congress, including Sens. Maria Cantwell, D-Mountlake Terrace, and Patty Murray, D-Shoreline.
