Peninsula: Rep. Dicks to discuss sewer proposal

Officials from the city of Sequim, the Jamestown S”Klallam tribe and other entities will meet today with Norm Dicks, the North Olympic Peninsula’s congressman, to discuss federal funding of a regional sewer system.

Dicks, D-Bremerton, has expressed interest in helping secure federal grant money for a sewer system that would connect the city, the tribe, Sequim Bay State Park, the SunLand residential subdivision north of downtown Sequim and possibly the Carlsborg urban growth area.

Dicks and Sequim Mayor Walt Schubert have discussed a grant-funded sewer system to alleviate concerns about heavy septic-tank usage close to shellfish harvesting areas and residential water wells.
